They are going to do away with sports and electives because of lack of funds? My taxpayer monies already pay for them, yet for my daugher to be in the band cost me $50.00 (and we already bought the instrument, so she did not get one from the school...despite the fact that my taxpayer money already pays for the teacher...parents are charged $50.00 times 200 students), and for my son to be in JV soccer cost me $125.00 (including $25.00 for the "kit" which consisted of a $3.00 soccer jersey and a pair of socks...we had to go out and buy the cleats...guess it pays the salary for his coach who stands around and watches the Varsity game (Fifty players at $100.00 bucks a pop...isn't that enough to pay the coaches?). Then to go watch him play at any Volusia High School charges $5.00...there all 10 of us in the stands, do they really need the $50.00?...(and didn't we already pay for the fields with our taxpayer monies?) The game at Deland HS only lasted 30 minutes because the refs were late....did Volusia County Pay them full price?, and who accounts for the money, the guy sitting in the golf cart for the games, (for all I know he's putting it in his pocket...oh wait, he's a custodian who's earning his paycheck sitting around and collecting the $5.00!). Here's my new suggestion...get more parent involvement, allow them to be coaches (not teacher's seeking an extra stipend to stand around and "coach". Put out a call to people who will volunteer their time for free, just provide them the training...much cheaper than what we have now...and stop nickle and diming the taxpayers They are still telling the kids to bring in "supplies" despite the fact that they budget millions for them...I saw one teacher laugh when she got moved to a new classroom (a portable that time forgot)and found 40 bottles of glue, 15 reams of paper, etc. I have no problem paying for my children's activities, but PEG has got to stop crying that she will do away with them since we are already paid for them twice(taxes and fees). Maybe it's time to trim the fat from administration first dummy!

Are you sure this is what you would like to do?
