Very upset ARK Foster | posted Nov 9, 2012 - 5:50:17pm
These dogs & cats may not die but many will because of this, there is no doubt in my mind. I am fostering a dog for ARK right now. My first one ever & I may never do it again once I am able to find her a home. "Very familiar with ARK" is right. I did fill out an application with ARK but they did not do a home check & they have never even met the dog I am fostering yet she is on their website with a price of $150 and I have spent hundreds on her (money that I really did not have). I picked her up directly from the rural high kill shelter & had to pay for her vetting myself because I couldn't get anyone to call me back. I repeatedly emailed & went there just a couple weeks ago to ask for help because I am having serious behavioral issues with my foster. I was assured by the lady at the front desk someone would call me - Never heard from anyone. I have only been there twice & the stench was quite overwhelming & both of my visits were in the mid-afternoon. I do know that they routinely have fosters return dogs. I considered taking my foster there a few weeks ago because she is out of control & I can't get any assistance from them, but couldn't bring myself to do it after I saw dogs stacked on top of each other in cages outside. It was heartbreaking. I can easily understand how it got so bad but the realistic side of it is that no rescue can save them all and when you have nowhere for them to go you have to be able to say no at some point. A lot of rescues will not pull a dog unless they have a foster ready to take them because they would all end up in this same situation. I can see both sides of this because I am a huge animal lover but I also saw the conditions there and they were certainly less than ideal.

Are you sure this is what you would like to do?
