I listened in on the meeting online and I was not convinced that the numbers the consultant firm presented were convincing enough to get the city to flip the switch to its own police department. There were more “ifs” and flaws in the study they presented and in my personal opinion; this is not the time to make such a giant leap when there are so many other pressing needs in Deltona. The Sherriff’s Department is doing a fine job and my fear is that when the referendum goes to the people, the voters may not have all the facts on the underlying costs of such a department.
