There have been 4 breakins on my street in Deland near this incident. There was a 15 year old black male caught trying to break into our back door - because he fled when seen by a neighbor there was little the police could do. We have a family and live in a modest home that we work hard to pay for. Living in fear of young kids breaking in and harming your home and stealing your valubles is becoming more and more common in my neighborhood and we really just don't know what to do about it. There seems to be a growing population of Deland youth that have no respect for the law or themselves. The boy that tried to break into our house had a ton of arrests on his record and didn't try to be overly covert in his attempt to break in - almost as if he didn't care if he got caught.
